Ashton’s Story
Ashton
Ashton was always the happiest person in the room. She had a way of communicating with people even after she lost her ability to speak. She loved the color pink, saw the positive in every situation, and had an amazing sense of humor. People were drawn to her smile, laugh, and big brown eyes.
Ashton was given a terminal diagnosis of Niemann-Pick Type C when she was only nine months old and wasn’t expected to live beyond four years. Her family and friends cherished the 16 years they had with her, and she proved that only God knows the exact amount of time any of us have in this life.
Despite her illness, Ashton had an amazing impact on many lives. She inspired several of her friends/caregivers to pursue careers in the medical field. Her outlook on life influenced others leaving a legacy to always look for the good and don’t be afraid to laugh even amid trials. She reminds us that it’s not the quantity of years, but the quality that matters.
